Position Overview
Our client, a well-established fuel organization in Anaheim, is seeking a hands-on Manager, Accounting to lead core accounting operations and partner closely with leadership. This role is responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, inventory accounting, and month-end close, while driving process improvements and supporting business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with US GAAP
Develop, maintain, and monitor annual budgets and operating forecasts
Manage day-to-day accounting functions including inventory, accounts payable, and general ledger activity
Prepare and analyze internal financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets
Lead month-end close processes, resolving complex accounting issues and ensuring timely, accurate reconciliations
Perform detailed variance analyses and review balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany and inventory accounts
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes and systems
Partner with cross-functional leaders to provide financial insight and support strategic initiatives
Lead external audits and serve as the primary audit liaison
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent education
Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting requirements
Strong experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
High proficiency with Excel and financial modeling
Demonstrated success managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Deep understanding of inventory accounting and business combinations
Proven leadership ability with experience managing teams, processes, and systems
Track record of driving cross-functional process improvements
Prior Controller-level experience strongly preferred
Audit experience preferred
Industry experience (fuel, energy, distribution, or related) highly preferred
